From Friendship to Mission The Story Behind CMANA
The Story of
CMANA?
The story of the Coptic Medical Association of North America (CMANA) began in 2010, when a small group of Coptic physicians and healthcare professionals found themselves reunited at a spiritual conference. As they reconnected, their conversations turned to their days in medical school in Cairo, Egypt—days shaped profoundly by the support, mentorship, and fellowship they received through the St. Stephen Medical Club.
They remembered how that club had nurtured them not only academically, but spiritually. It was a community that strengthened their faith, helped them navigate the intensity of medical training, and taught them the power of standing together.
In that moment of reflection, a new idea took root.
They realized that across North America, Coptic healthcare providers were scattered—working in isolated pockets, often unaware of one another, and lacking a unified platform to collaborate, learn, and serve. The need for a cohesive community was clear. The power of unity they had once experienced was missing.
So this group of friends made a decision that would grow beyond anything they imagined.
They formed an organization dedicated to bringing Coptic Christian healthcare professionals together under one mission.
What began as a conversation among friends has become a thriving medical community—a family—dedicated to healing, service, and faith.
CMANA continues to honor its roots in the St. Stephen Medical Club, carrying forward the spirit of unity, discipleship, and Christian love that shaped its founders. Today, it stands as a beacon of collaboration and service for Coptic healthcare providers across North America and beyond.
